A one-bedroom detached unit with vaulted ceilings, a spa-style bath and a private patio.
A straightforward brief executed carefully. Vaulting the ceiling to the ridge cost almost nothing in structure and transformed how large the unit feels — the single highest-value decision on the project.
The private patio and separate entry were positioned to give the unit genuine independence from the main house, which is what makes an ADU rentable rather than merely permitted.
